FOCUS OF THE CURRICULUM Osteopathy is a system of health care that focuses on treatment of physical body, the joints, muscles and connecting tissues with hands on technique such as deep tactile pressures, stretching, soft tissue work, mobilization and manipulation. This affects the functioning of the whole body via connections with the nervous, circulatory and Lymphatic systems. The modern way of life leaves most of the people with musculo-skelton problems, causing pain and restricting movements. Back pain, migraine, tennis elbow and various sporting injuries are also very common in the modern times. Osteopathy cures these problems by manual medicine. In Australia, USA, UK and other European countries, therefore, many universities which offer various courses in osteopathy provide alternative to existing conventional medical practice. Osteopathy through regular and long strides of discovery, development and refinement has now attained perfection of its own by curing millions of patients all over the world. In India the first and foremost exponent of Osteopathy, till date, Dr. K. M. Modi, envisages to start a college of Osteopathy for aspiring candidates. INTERNAL ASSESSMENT It shall be based on the evaluation of the periodical tests of the assignment, clinical presentations etc., regular periodical examinations shall be conducted throughout the course. Proper records that will form the basis of the internal assessment shall be maintained of all candidates and shall be available for scrutiny. Principal shall display the marks of periodical tests on the candidates' notice board. During practice sessions each trainee benefits from the feedback from their colleague as s/he treats them and also experiences for themselves the procedure s/he will perform on their patients. Assessment: with such a high level of supervisions, progress can be continuously monitored and the degree of support varied accordingly. In addition there are assessments which give trainees specific goals to achieve.
